Best Foods to Crush Sugar Cravings and Lose Weight Fast — Don’t Eat This
It’s that time of year when sweets are all around us, everywhere we go. And while these foods are delicious, sugar is probably one of the biggest culprits in derailing our health and weight loss goals this time of year.
If you find yourself suffering from sugar cravings, you are not alone! The Cleveland Clinic says people often crave sugar because of its addictive properties or because they don’t eat enough good food throughout the day.
To combat these sugar cravings this holiday season, it’s important to eat foods that will give you plenty of nutrients and keep you feeling full for longer. To find out which foods are best for this, we spoke to her Laura Burak, MS, RD, author Slimdown with Smoothiesand founder of Laura Burak Nutrition.

According to Burak, including healthy, high-fat foods in your diet can help eliminate sugar cravings. “The protein and fat content naturally found in nuts, along with a good amount of fiber, help stabilize blood sugar and create a feeling of satiety, or a feeling of fullness and satisfaction so you don’t feel the need to eat a dessert or a donut at 3 pm.”
Nuts are not only useful in curbing sugar cravings, but they have many other health benefits as well. According to a report published in NutrientsNuts are known to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, while helping with high blood pressure and inflammation as well.

Avocados can be used in many ways: on toast, in smoothies, to make sauces or chutneys, or you can enjoy them with some salt and pepper. No matter how you choose to eat it, you’ll benefit from its healthy fat content and hopefully be less tempted to reach for sweets.
“Just like nuts, avocados stabilize blood sugar and can be an excellent preventative measure for your sweet craving, so try adding some avocado to your sandwich or salad, or just have it mixed with olive oil and lemon and see how satisfying this addition can be,” says Burak. Superfoods can make a difference in cravings.”

It’s only natural to crave something sweet, especially since your body thrives on a certain amount of sugar every day. However, this means naturally occurring sugars such as what’s in fruit, not added sugar. That’s why Burak recommends curbing sugar cravings with some fresh fruit.
“Try some fruit instead and you might be surprised because it’s called nature’s candy after all. In other countries, fruit is considered a dessert but in America, we don’t look at it that way. When you start incorporating natural sources of sugar instead of a super sweet like candy, it can be a Your taste buds change to prefer less sugar.”

If you need a tasty but filling mid-day snack, try some yogurt that doesn’t have a lot of added sugar. “High-quality yogurt contains natural milk sugar and is a good source of protein and fat, so this combo can satisfy sweet cravings,” Burak says.
And if you’re really feeling those cravings, add some fresh berries or coconut flakes on top.
