Buzzed Bull Creamery to close, other Augusta restaurants to close: Updates

A restaurant serving nitro-alcoholic milkshakes and sushi has closed after less than a year in business; caterer finds his South Augusta space; North Augusta bin store owners branches; and a regional furniture chain has a new chief financial officer. Here’s a quick overview of Augusta area business openings, closings and other changes:

LOST ICE: After less than nine months in business, a D.C. food franchise that served sweet milkshakes and innovative sushi offerings has closed.
Buzzed Bull Creamery and Roll On Sushi Burritos & Bowls have announced the March grand opening of The Plaza commercial development at 7025 Evans Towne Center Drive in Evans. But a sign on the door of the business announcing its closure began welcoming visitors to the shuttered location after Thanksgiving.

“Closing is the most difficult business decision we’ve ever had to make,” Tracy Frey told The Augusta Chronicle on Friday, declining further comment on the reasons for the closure. “It is with great sadness that we have to share this news. Thank you to everyone who supported us and to the people we know so well. We miss you all so much. Best wishes to everyone during the holiday season and New Year.

Frey envisioned bringing two different franchises under one roof. Buzzed Bull Creamery offers specialty ice creams and milkshakes that can be made to order with alcohol. Roll On In offers a multicultural menu that emphasizes fresh ingredients served in innovative pairings such as sushi burritos, sushi tacos and sushi donuts.
“The goal was to bring something unique to the area,” Frey told The Chronicle in February 2021.

Infinite Delights is a bakery, catering and event space
ENTRY INTO LIMITS: A former sandwich shop in south Augusta has become a new base of operations for a local caterer.
Infinite Delights, a bakery, catering and event space, is undergoing a soft opening as owner Tawanda Higgs Harris settles into a new space at 2906 Peach Orchard Road.
The newly accessible sit-down restaurant space is available as an event venue for rent
The Philly CheeseSteak Factory previously owned the Peach Orchard property, but is still located on East Robinson Avenue in Grovetown.

BIN HAS: As promised, the owners of the North Augusta Dumpster have set up another location down the road in Columbia, SC.
Michael and Jen Prendamano own and operate The Bin Store at 401 W. Martintown Road. They told The Augusta Chronicle in May that they plan to open another location in the next few months and four stores by early 2023.
Other stores may have to wait, but with partners Brad and Craig Giles, Prendamanos recently opened a Bin Store at 2814 Augusta Road in West Columbia.
The stores are just a few examples of disposal stores that have sprung up across the country in the past year. Junkyards are wholesale items purchased in bulk that are resold at a deeply discounted price. Typically, merchandise is sorted and placed in large bins for shoppers to pick through for potential bargains.

As retail grows, especially online, so do return rates for unwanted goods. Often, manufacturers find it cheaper to sell unmoved inventory to distribution warehouses, where other third-party sellers buy products in bulk and resell them at thrift stores.

COMFORTABLE EXECUTIVE ARMCHAIR: A chain of furniture stores spanning three southern states has hired an Evans woman as its new chief financial officer.
Heather Lester Morin, who spent more than 16 years in the Augusta office of national accountancy firm Cherry Bekaert, has been appointed CFO of Tipperary Sales. The company owns and operates eight La-Z-Boy Home Furnishings and Decor Galleries, including one at 4025 Washington Road in Evans.
Maureen, a Certified Public Accountant, holds a Bachelor of Business degree in Accounting and a Master of Business degree — both from Augusta University. Maureen will remain in Augusta, working in the company’s business services office.
