Dr Nick Fuller, RD from the University of Sydney and founder of the Interval Weight Loss Program, recommends replacing sugary breakfast cereals with oatmeal instead.
“Oats are a rich source of beta-glucan, a specific type of soluble fiber, which acts like a sponge in the intestines to get rid of cholesterol and prevent it from sticking to the arteries,” Fuller says. “Choose either rolled oats, steel-cut oats, or oat bran, which are higher in beta-glucan.”
